Lyra
Dark. Very dark.
'Well of course its dark, stupid!' the female cub growled mentally to herself. 'Youre in a cave!'
With a sigh, Lyra stood from her resting place and shook out her blue pelt in an attempt to get to get rid of the dampness that the humidity had caused. One of the joys of the Rain season. Thats what she guessed it must be, due to the fact that the forest was nearly always getting poured on.
Lyra hated rain, and all cold weather really, it only caused more trouble. Her more trouble. It sent what little prey she could find scampering into their burrows, and got her pelt all wet. But, it wasn't the wet that bothered her so much, it was the cold. It made her shiver uncontrolably and made her cough and sneeze. The last thing she needed was to get sick. No, definately didn't need that. Luckily, she had come across this place, a small cave at the base of a cliff. To her surprise and pleasure the cavern was very dry and warm, the perfect place to stop for a nice slumber.
The young tigress sighed again and laid back down, curling in on herself as she tried to get comfortable. She growled the tiniest bit toward the entrance of the cave, where she could still see the heavy rain that had driven her inside. It had brought on many memories, memories that she wanted to forget. Or at least not think about for a while. The rain reminded her how hard it was, living on her own, and how much better off she had been when she had had her mother by her side to protect and take care of her.
But she wasn't here. Not anymore. She had left Lyra, a poor defenseless cub, to fend for herself in this unforgiving world. Ly wanted to be angry, to be furious with her mother for abandoning her, but she wasn't. She only felt sorrow whenever she thought about it, and questioning. She didn't hate her mothet, far from it. She still loved her as much as she had loved Lyra, even if she had left her to defend herself.
Lyra whimpered. Remembering her mom had brought on a new wave of sorrow, the emotion exploding in her chest like a firework. This is why she didn't want to remember, it always made her sad to think about her mother. She didn't like to be sad. She laid her weary head on her front paws, her dark eyes grief-striken as she continued to star out into the rain.
"Where are you mom?" she whispered "Why did you leave me alone? Where did you go?"
She waited, ears pricked, for an answer that she knew wouldn't come. She whimpered again and turned her head to bury it in her warm flank, small tears begining to drip from her eyes and into her cheek-fur.
"I miss you," she sighed, not really sure if what she was saying was out loud or not. She didn't really care. "Alot. I love you..."
With a last little sigh, Lyra closed her eyes and, wiping tears away with the heel of her paw, settled in the wait out the rain, vaguely worrying about what else might be in this strange place. Or who else might come in.
